Our Story
Welcome to Semple Street Pizza, a beloved establishment that has been serving delicious pizza under the name Larry & Carol's to the city of Pittsburgh since 1974. Founded by George Nadour, our iconic pizzeria was the ultimate destination for Italian style pizza in Oakland before we closed our doors for renovations in 2024. Four months later, and we are back again with a new menu and a New York City theme, inspired by the classic King Kong movie initially produced in 1933 and co-directed by Merian C. Cooper & Ernest B. Schoedsack .
Known for our legendary 30" diameter King Kong pizza, which is the largest in Pittsburgh, Semple Street Pizza is ready to delight both new and returning customers with a gourmet New York-style pies and slices, and unmatched recipes and flavors.
We are very fortunate to have our community for the past 40 years and are beyond grateful to celebrate our 40th year anniversary in Oakland with YOU and are beyond excited to introduce our new slices and pies to the people of Pittsburgh, we thank you for four decades.
